about
Twenty-six years ago, Minoru Sato -m/s composed for Ami Yoshida. It was an important work that dealt with an interest in the continuity of human memory, to explore the void between improvisation and composition on the basis of material sound of voice. Then in 2007, it was published by ASUNA's aotoao label as "Composition For Voice Performer" (sites.google.com/site/aotoao1/). Fifteen years later, we have refined this work and developed it into a question of identity and mimesis, consisting of a continuity of memory, and will present a new work in its first performance version in this December.
(This unreleased piece was uploaded as an offshoot of this new work, but it is very different from the performance version.)
"of a voice, its two shadows" by MINORU SATO-m/s, AMI YOSHIDA, ASUNA
Phantom will arise in, where a place is rendered by following a trace as a series of memory.
Ami Yoshida has an incredible unique technique for her voice is a performer based on improvisation and experimental musics. This piece has a purpose to articulate the identity of her voice performance. She will do her own performance repeating several times with the same idea but improvisation. Each step of this repeated process manifests by real voices with lights of the previous steps. In apposition, ASUNA and Minoru Sato will play each process dealing with synthesized/artificial sounds as mimesis of her voice performance. These two processes might articulate something of “identity” as we call.
